Larry Schreiber, a 34-year veteran of the healthcare industry, was named CEO of SantaFe HealthCare (SFHC) in March of 2019. SFHC is organized as a healthcare service holding company whose mission is to create and sustain a family of preeminent health-related organizations through community-based, mission-driven operating Affiliates.
SFHC’s principal Affiliates operated in the managed care/health insurance, advanced illness/end-of-life, and senior living segments and include AvMed, Inc.; North Central Florida Hospice, Inc. (“Haven”); SantaFe Senior Living, Inc. and its Retirement Communities; and SantaFe Village. SFHC is based in Gainesville, Florida.
An accomplished healthcare executive with a skill set uniquely attuned to the rapidly changing national, regional, and local healthcare marketplace, throughout his career, Schreiber’s direct accountabilities have been for managing all aspects of multiple healthcare related business assets.
Health Plans: Commercial and Government Business.
Hospice Care: Four Levels of Hospice, Palliative, and Transitions Educational Services.
Senior Living: Independent Living, Memory Care, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing.
In these roles, he worked to develop long-term strategic direction, drive cultural imperatives, gain operational efficiencies, diversify revenue streams, and collaborate with elected officials, as well as industry thought leaders, to improve the health and well-being of all those he served.
During his tenure at SFHC, Schreiber focused the executive team on the development and execution of three distinct yet interrelated long-term growth strategies to ensure the future viability of SFHC and each of its Affiliates.

Prior to his time at SFHC, Schreiber served in a dual role as the President and CEO of Empire BlueCross BlueShield and the CEO of the Wisconsin Collaborative Insurance Company (WCIC), both Anthem companies. While President of Anthem’s Wisconsin Plan, Schreiber conceived of and launched a joint venture insurance company with the tenth largest non-profit health care system in the US, Advocate Aurora Health (AAH). Owned 50/50 by Anthem and AAH, the rapidly growing company delivers care through a high-performance network of providers and deploys clinical assets both onsite for employers as well as within the facilities of participating health systems.
Prior to his role with Empire, Schreiber served as President of the Anthem BlueCross and BlueShield Plan in Wisconsin. During his nearly seven-year tenure, the Plan saw significant membership and financial growth and was recognized by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association as the fastest-growing Blue Cross Blue Shield Plan in 2010. In addition, Schreiber successfully led enterprise-wide projects focused on growth, retention, health system collaborations and cost-of-care initiatives.
Schreiber joined Anthem in 2006, serving as the general manager of UniCare, a health benefits company based in Chicago and an Anthem subsidiary. While there, Schreiber engineered a financial turnaround for the company’s large group block of business, improving retention while bringing in new business.
Before joining Anthem, Schreiber held several executive management positions at UnitedHealth Group. Schreiber started his career at Aetna.
A graduate of the University of Tampa, Schreiber has been trained in executive leadership at the Wharton School of Business, attained Six Sigma Executive Champion certification, and achieved the designation of Certified Employee Benefit Specialist through the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. He is a highly active community leader and currently serves as a Board Member of the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
